Building Futures Together

The inaugural Speechless Reconciliation developmental camp was established to create a space where youth from homes for children without proper parental care could unite, irrespective of their backgrounds, to forge relationships and share experiences. The camp’s distinctive feature is its focus on individual and community values, hands-on activities with horses, talents and skills identification, sustainable project building, equipping young people with relevant experiences, and fostering connections through activities that promote empathy and understanding.

For 2024, the theme is “Building Futures Together.” The Speechless Reconciliation European Developmental Camp 2024 provides a nurturing and inclusive environment for young people from homes for children without proper parental care to learn and develop. Participants will take part in a variety of activities aimed at enhancing teamwork, communication skills, future planning, talent identification, leadership abilities, intercultural exchange, and personal growth.

This developmental camp offers a platform for young individuals from diverse countries and cultures to come together and form lasting bonds. With an emphasis on fostering understanding and promoting intercultural connections, the Speechless Reconciliation developmental camp offers a unique and invaluable experience for its participants.

This year’s camp promises to be as thrilling and impactful as previous editions. We are excited to welcome all 22 young participants and anticipate the new relationships and perspectives that will be created during this special week.

As in previous years, participants will join the Speechless Reconciliation alumni network, which now includes nearly 100 young individuals. These alumni benefit from various opportunities through partnerships within the second phase of the program, which is just as crucial as the first phase.

„The camp is perfect for youngsters in general because it provides them with a lot of answers from experienced people around the world. SR community offers so much, such as connections, emotional help, skill development, career help and even friends for life🫶 From my experience this camp is special from others because it doesn't end after one week. “I was thinking a lot about how to describe this amazing experience that we just had, but you would probably have to be there to understand. Understand what? The growth of the youngsters which I, as a pedagog, and counselor to several of the participants, have not seen anywhere else. The emotional evolution, the growth of empathy, team work. They worked hard, they went out of their comfort zone and they succeeded in ways they never knew were possible. They beat the nervousness, the shame of not knowing the language, and low self-confidence. Each and every one of them walked (or flew and drove) out of Prague with their heads held high”

I’m very grateful that I could work with this youngsters and it was amazing to see how the youngsters are rising up during 1 week from for example shy to self assured, other driven by ambitions and who the group stucks together from different countries/cultures (new friends, new connections,…),…. Sometimes it was confronting to hear some life stories of the youngsters, but the ethos of fun, love, gratitude, the warm contacts with them… makes it insane good !”

I didn’t think much of it and expected a fun and interesting weekend similar to the summer camps I was in during my childhood. I was pleasantly surprised to see that that was not the case. Seeing the youngsters in tears at the end of the camp, with a newfound excitement and energy toward the limitless boundaries their futures can hold, I knew this was something I needed to continue to be a part of. What this program does is something special, I wish everyone could witness the capabilities of these incredible youngsters, it has certainly changed my life in more ways than one."
