European Developmental Camp 2026

In August 2026, young people from across Europe came together in Písek, Czechia, for the latest edition of the Speechless Reconciliation European Developmental Camp.

They arrived from different countries, cultures and personal backgrounds. Some travelled for many hours to get there. Most had never met before.

Over the following days, that changed completely.

The Developmental Camp is designed to give young people the space, relationships and practical tools to discover their strengths, think differently about their future and build meaningful connections with peers and mentors from outside their everyday environment.

The Camp26 programme took participants through a progressive journey.

The first days focused on self-discovery and connection. Through Values, Skills & Talents workshops, mindfulness, art and our characteristic work with horses, participants explored who they are, what matters to them and how they communicate and build trust with others.

As relationships within the group grew stronger, the focus shifted towards creation and collaboration.

Working in international teams, participants were challenged to develop their own projects. They had to listen to different perspectives, identify problems, generate ideas, divide responsibilities and gradually turn those ideas into something concrete.

Many were inspired by the participants' own experiences, making the projects highly personal and giving the final presentations a remarkable level of authenticity.

More than workshops

Development at Camp26 did not happen only during scheduled sessions.

Throughout the week, participants had regular 1-to-1 conversations with SR mentors, creating space to talk more personally about their ambitions, challenges, ideas and future.

Horse coaching explored trust, communication, confidence and leadership. Presentation workshops helped participants learn how to communicate their ideas clearly and speak in front of an audience.

Camp26 also introduced new elements to the Speechless programme.

Through SR–ART, creativity became another way to communicate and express experiences beyond spoken language. Our new Sound & Expression workshop explored sound, rhythm, listening and personal expression, creating yet another way for participants to discover and share their abilities.

And between all of this came the moments that cannot be planned: conversations over meals, laughter during games, time around the campfire, friendships forming and young people from very different backgrounds simply enjoying being together.

Taking the stage

Towards the end of the Camp, the five teams presented the projects they had spent the week developing.

For us, the achievement was not only the quality of the ideas.

It was seeing young people stand in front of an audience and communicate something they had created themselves — with confidence, honesty and authenticity.

The week culminated with our International Evening, when participants shared food, traditions and pieces of their cultures with one another. Even the week's first heavy rain became part of the celebration, ending in a spontaneous rain dance together.

It was a fitting image of what had happened throughout the Camp.

Young people who had arrived from different places as strangers were leaving as friends.

Camp ends. Community begins.

The final day of a Speechless Reconciliation Camp is never simply the end of a programme.

The participants of Camp26 now become part of the Speechless Reconciliation Alumni Community, where the relationships and development started in Písek can continue through mentoring, online activities, reunions, opportunities and future projects.

That is ultimately what Speechless Reconciliation is about.

The Camp creates the connection. The community helps it continue.

Camp26 showed us once again how much potential can emerge when young people are given the space to be heard, challenged, supported and surrounded by people who believe in what they can become.

We are enormously grateful to the mentors, volunteers, group leaders, partners and sponsors who made Camp26 possible — and especially to the young people who trusted us enough to take part.

Camp26 is over. Their next chapter is just beginning.
